SL/China Fishery Association launched

Sierra Leone/China Fishery Association on Monday 26 June 2017 was launched at the Bintumani Hotel by Vice President Victor Bockarie Foh.
In his address, the Vice President said he was happy that this association has been formed with China. He said they will work to enhance the quality of fishing within the country and it will help to combat illegal fishing.
“With such enthusiasm shown by the Chinese, the industry will be controlled. They will make sure that there is greater transparency. They will support the value addition charge with more capital investment that will develop the industry to greater heights.”
The Vice President said there have been so many challenges in the industry as well as gossip and jealousy. He said with this organisation they will eradicate all these negative vices and push forward the industry.
He commended the Minister of Mines Madam Elizabeth Manns for her relentless effort in making the industry more meaningful and profitable. VP Foh urged her not to relent but to continue to push as the government will support all the way.
The Director General of Fisheries in China, Zhang Xianliang, said he was happy to be in Sierra Leone and to work with the fishing industry so that they can achieve the required result.
